Glenn Tozer

When he's not being a Councillor for the best city in the world (Gold Coast, in case you're unaware), Glenn loves to champion music and culture. In past years he’s co-produced music event Summertime Sessions in the Village in Mudgeeraba, hosted house gigs with local and touring musicians, negotiates tours locally with Woodfordia’s regional tour Festival of Small Halls, and champions a variety of arts and cultural programming in the Hinterland and greater city. Glenn is currently the Deputy Chair for the Economy, Tourism and Events Committee at the council and with his wife Jude runs a little multimedia production company for the NFP sector called Little Drum Pictures. He likes to write for Blank GC in his spare time, for fun.

Album review: DAMIEN | Wrong Age. Wrong Race. Wrong Gender.

The new EP from queer Ipswich darkwave outfit DAMIEN hits the streets on 27 May and for lovers of industrial dance music it will no doubt be met with ironic anticipation. Ironic because it is indeed quite hard to genuinely anticipate a novella so...

Live review: Homecoming | BBQ Bazaar | Saturday 26 September 2020

There was a moment on Saturday night; a memorable snapshot as it were; as trippy rockers Peach Fur and guest performer Saint Lane commanded every eye in the 300 person capacity crowd in the industrial tin shed that is the BBQ Bazaar, unexpectedly...

When it comes to the Gold Coast, Holy Holy’s Oscar is far from a grouch

You’d be forgiven if, like me, you thought there might be something more to guitarist-cum-producer Oscar Dawson working with quite the number of Gold Coast-linked acts over past years, with his fingerprints finding their way onto tour schedules...

Hardship inspires art for Footstomp

For many musicians the past months have forced a focus on writing and production, and the live music sector’s temporary hiatus has brought many to their knees, compelling some artists to look outside the industry to keep the home fires burning...

Album review: Lastlings | No Time

For a pair of early twenty-somethings, siblings Josh and Amy Dowdle - aka Lastlings - have a wealth of experience to draw upon, and their new EP release ‘No Time’ is more evidence of a coming of age for their outfit. Opening with the title track ‘No...
