Album review: Lastlings | No Time

For a pair of early twenty-somethings, siblings Josh and Amy Dowdle - aka Lastlings - have a wealth of experience to draw upon, and their new EP release 'No Time' is more evidence of a coming of age for their outfit.

Opening with the title track 'No Time', backed by an epic animated YouTube music video, the EP takes you on a beat-filled journey into a spacious soundscape accentuated by Amy’s calm, haunting vocals and Josh’s crafty musicianship. All five ditties on the EP are compelling, perfect for a 20 minute run or workout, but my highlight is the closer 'Déjà Vu', with its sneaky bass line underpinning the catchy hook. I know it’s never gonna last forever, but I dearly wanted it to last longer than it did.

Collaborating with DJ and producer Cassian, and having toured with the likes of Rufus Du Sol, Two Door Cinema Club and Vera Blue, Lastlings have already cultivated a pedigree that will inevitably lead to success as live music returns to the world. For anyone who loves a dancebeat, or anyone who loves a little bit of Tallebudgera Valley home cooking in their internationally renowned electronic music outfits, 'No Time' by Lastlings is entirely worth investigating for your enjoyment until the heady days of live performances in discotheques return, at which time you should get yourself a ticket to see them in person. Five star tracks.

Released in late June, after a few snapshots via earlier singles, 'No Time' can already be found across a variety of national and international electronic and dance playlists on your favourite listening platform.
