Robina's Greenheart site is set to home a 252-hectare park, the largest open-space recreational facility ever undertaken by the City of Gold Coast.
The Gold Coast’s answer to Central Park is starting to take shape, with construction underway at the Greenheart site in Robina to create a 252-hectare park. That's two-thirds of New York's Central Park's size! And six times bigger than the Broadwater Parklands.
Mayor Tom Tate checked out the progress made on Greenheart’s first stage, saying that “Greenheart will be the signature park for not just the Gold Coast but the entire south-east Queensland corner.”
The $21.5 million first stage of this project is set to offer a welcoming space featuring exciting playgrounds, new barbeques, a lush picnic area, sprawling events lawn and water play area for locals and visitors alike.
Stage one's 17-hectare parklands are expected to be completed in early 2025. Mayor Tom Tate commented that it "will transform the site to an area of natural beauty mixed with contemporary design."
Straddling Robina and Merimac, site investigations, preparations and construction began in May this year on Stadium Drive, Robina.
This first stage includes:
- Yoga lawn
- Events lawn
- Outdoor gym
- Ball sports area
- Scooter and bike track
- Car parking and bus set down area
- A fully fenced playground for children
- Barbeques, picnic tables and shelters
- Fenced dog off-leash area with agility equipment, seating, and shade trees
- Water play area with water pumps and weir gates for leaf boat racing, building dams and sand play
- Café building and separate amenities, which will include accessible toilets and a Changing Places facility
Stay tuned for this epic Gold Coast addition.
