HOTA transforms into a mecca of creativity with Kids Take Over these school holidays

Home of the Arts (HOTA) is running a creative play festival, Kids Take Over, designed by kids, for kids these school holidays from 27 September to 1 October.

Kids Take Over is set to entertain and ignite the imaginations of children, with 12 events across five jam-packed days.

The program features an massive lineup of extraordinary free and ticketed events including workshops, visual arts experiences, immersive performances and more.

Designed by kids for kids, the program is the ultimate memory-maker, boredom-buster, and creative play festival on the Gold Coast these school holidays.

Write Like an Author

25-28 September

Award-winning and international published author, Brian Falkner, guides young writers in developing and writing stories in the fun and supportive Write Like An Author workshop. This workshop is suitable for children aged 7 to 14 and is set to ignite minds and imaginations. 

Draw Like an Artist

25-28 September

Does your little tacker have a wild imagination? Then chances are they'll be buzzing during this creative workshop. Children can unleash and refine their artistic skills across character creation, media and techniques, storyboards and multi-layered artwork with artist Lucia Masciullo.

Bratz Carnival

Wednesday 27 September

Enjoy an energetic, supercharged afternoon show for all ages at Bratz Carnival. Featuring circus artists and mischief-makers from Briefs Factory, this show is specially created to get youngsters excited about expressing themselves. Attendees will watch top-notch circus superstars and get on stage to have a boogie.

Fluffy

Thursday 28 September

Head down to embark on a journey of creativity at the Fluffy event. This immersive and enchanting experience combines recycled shredded paper with art, physical performance, and interactive storytelling. Fluffy is an extraordinary interactive play environment and wonderland featuring mountains of 200kg swirling, fluttering paper. Part narrative, part make-your-own adventure, this experience caters to audiences of all ages.

Proudfeet & Friends

Join award-winning children's performer, Lucas Proudfoot, and a cast of unforgettable characters in a non-stop musical adventure that's set to be a foot-stomping, rib-tickling, toe-tapping time of your life. Proudfoot & Friends is a spectacular stage show not to be missed.  

Cartooning Workshop

28-30 September

Pens and stories at the ready! Young budding artists can dive into the vibrant world of cartoons and unleash their creative potential with renowned artist, Brenton E McKenna, in the cartooning workshop.

Lego Battle: What's Your Story?

Saturday 30 September

Join in the celebration of creativity, friendship and the joy of building with Andrew and Damien from Clicking Bricks for the ultimate interactive bonanza.

27 September to 1 October

Across the Kids Take Over program there are a range of FREE events including The Quest, Picnic Party, Mini Marketeers, and a special Family Movie Under the Stars on September 29.

HOTA's Kids Take Over program is one for the whole family to experience on the second week of school holidays from September 27 to October 1.
