Yep, you heard correctly. Paul McCartney is bringing his Got Back Tour to the Gold Coast.
Sir Paul McCartney, one of the most successful musicians in history, is bringing his Got Back Tour to the Gold Coast this November.
The tour is an ultimate retrospective of an truly extraordinary career, featuring songs from McCartney's entire catalogues, including Wings, his solo works and, of course, The Beatles.
The Australian Tour will kick off in Adelaide, which is surely to hold special significance for McCartney as it marks his return to Australia for the first live performances in six years and its where The Beatles made history in 1964 during their first visit to Australia with a massive 350,000 people gathering to catch a glimpse of the iconic band.
McCartney will then take yp the stage in Melbourne, Newcastle, Sydney and Brisbane before his final show on the Gold Coast at Heritage Bank Stadium on 4 November.
The city is rightly abuzz with the news.
This morning, Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate has celebrated the announcement that global music icon Sir Paul McCartney will play a concert in our city – by “doing an Abbey Road’’ outside the HOTA precinct.
“Better still, I’ll rename the thoroughfare Abbey Road just for a day as we celebrate the announcement,’’ he said.
“Life’s too short to take ourselves seriously. We love the news about Sir Paul McCartney and want everyone to know that the McCartney concert is a chance to visit, enjoy the music and stay on."
Mayor Tate, Cr Donna Gates, Cr Hermann Vorster and Cr Brooke Patterson cross the new “Abbey Road’’ pedestrian crossing at HOTA.
The Got Back Tour kicked off in February 2022 with 16 shows across the states. It gained widespread acclaim and reached a historical moment with McCartney’s performance at Glastonbury in June 2022, hailed as the “best gig ever” by the British Times.
Tickets to see Paul McCartney on his 2023 Australian Tour will go on sale Friday 11 August via Frontier Touring. The Frontier Members pre-sale starts Wednesday 9 August.
