Pioneer’s of the female grunge movement, L7 are set to return down under in May.
With their trademark heavy riffs, messy hair and staunch feminism, the LA-based rockers are back promoting their first album in twenty years, ‘Scatter The Rats.’
Formed by the legendary Donita Sparks and Suzi Gardner, the band have released six albums over the years including hard-hitting anthems such as ‘Pretend We’re Dead’ and ‘Shitlist’. With a subversive style and a punk-rock non-conformist attitude, L7 had a revolutionary impact on the underground music scene obliterating the expectation that female performers were perceived as ‘eye-candy.’ Self-confessed "slob girls" L7 paved the way for female grunge fans and musicians alike.
L7’s latest single 'Burn Baby', was released on February 28 2019, and the full album, released on May 3 2019, through Joan Jett's record label Blackheart Records. The album has not disappointed and I highly doubt their live shows will either!
L7's Aussie tour kicks off at Metro Theatre in Sydney on May 2o then heads to the Forum in Melbourne on Friday, May 22, The Triffid in Brisbane on Saturday, May 23 and finishes at The Gov in Adelaide on Sunday, May 24.
