Emily Wurramara to headline ‘Can’t Touch This’

This Friday's 'Can't Touch This' event features an iconic lineup of fierce and fabulous femme artists, with all profits going to consent education.

Headlined by ARIA-nominated, AIR Award winning Indigenous artist Emily Wurramara, 'Can't Touch This' boasts a ferocious fem-focussed lineup featuring local Meanjin artists & bands TYDE, Rosa Mack, SAIK, Georgie Neilsen, Sarah Jay, Red Hill Band, and Pipin. The whole lineup are donating their performances for free so 100% of the profits can go to fund consent education programs in Australian schools and universities.

Organised by TYDE's front woman Ella Belfanti, the idea for the event came when planning the release of TYDE's latest single 'Give Me A Reason' - a song about Ella's experiences with harassment and coercive control. Ella wanted to put together an event that could make a tangible difference in preventing others from going through the types of experiences she (and so many other women) have had normalised.

“When tackling a culture and society that ultimately isn’t safe for women, it’s hard to know where to start. I struggle to see how I am ever going to feel truly safe in my lifetime, but there is hope for future generations with education, with prevention. If we can teach people consent as a core value, maybe we can make a change for the future," says Ella.

Can't Touch This is on Friday 12f May at iconic Brisbane venue The Zoo. Tickets are on sale now here.
