Blissing out with Saint Barae

Gold Coast indie pop outfit Saint Barae has dropped a joyful, colourful single ‘Blissing You’.

Saint Barae is the faithful narrator to the queer experience. Blending together shimmering indie pop with tender lyricism and a slick 90’s aesthetic, he’s the soundtrack to a generation’s untold coming of age story.

Exploring themes of sexual identity against a backdrop of guitar driven pop bliss is his signature POV, and upcoming EP ‘cryboy’ is no exception. Inspired by acts like The 1975, Conan Gray and Cub Sport; the pop-meets-indietronica performer is a sonic shapeshifter that toes the line between melancholy and euphoria.

The Aussie up and comer has also had his most stacked year yet in the lead up to his latest offering 'Blissing You'. Playing Moreton Bay's Pridefest alongside the likes of Thelma Plum and Sneaky Sound system, his live act has seen him take stages across the country with sold out shows in the Gold Coast, Brisbane and Sydney respectively.

With rotation support from Triple J on previous single 'Boys Don't Cry' and multiple music festival slots under his belt - 2023 is looking to be his biggest and brightest year yet.

"I wrote 'Blissing You' about the joy that comes from giving someone pleasure in a relationship - and how that was a significant stepping stone for me into becoming my authentic self as a queer man,” he tells us.

“I was really inspired by my synth pop roots when writing this track and wanted to bring the sound I created on my first record into my new world. The whole track is infused with my love for colourful pop production with bright sparkly guitar licks, grooving lofi bass lines and an overall bubbling and bright soundscape.”
