It’s keg jump time at DRM

Burleigh Brewing’s annual street skating competition Keg Jump heads to Distillery Road Market (DRM) this August for the biggest indoor skateboarding event yet.

Distillery Road Market and Burleigh Brewing have teamed up to host Keg Jump 2023, which will see the skateboarding and craft beer event run for its fourth year on Saturday 19 August 2023.

Keg Jump will host street skateboarders from around the country who are recognised by the industry, competing for an impressive prize pool valued at $5,000. The winning skateboarder must clear and land over the highest number of Burleigh beer kegs on the night to score the ‘Burleigh Golden Growler’ trophy.

Last year's winner, Dani Campbell, broke the record with a whopping 14-keg jumps to take out the 2022 title, beating the previous year’s record of 11 kegs by 3 kegs.

Keg Jump 2023 features local skating legends Pedro Day (Brisbane), Mike Lawry (Brisbane), Jesse Noonan (Gold Coast) and Jackson Pilz (Sunshine Coast), as well as a slew of other talented street skaters from around Australia.

Brisbane local skater, coach and mentor Patty G (Pat Gemzik) will keep the crowds roaring as the competition MC, while the best trick judging panel of recognised skateboarding figures includes SLAM Magazine Editor, Trent Fahey, and former professional skateboarder and two-time Australian street skateboarding champion, Trent Bonham.

Following the completion of the competition and the crowning of the winner, attendees will be treated to an after-party with live music that will make hearts race, with an exciting line-up including local music legends Chutney and Heavy Wax.

A feature of this year’s event is a live art challenge with local street artists Tervo, Smalls, Gourami and Gus Eagleton. The artists will be throwing up some ink to create murals based on a theme announced on the day and will be using set colours to add to the complexity of the artistic challenge.

Burleigh Brewing will be pouring the brews and local food truck vendors That Gelato Co., Vagabond Foods and The Fried Guys will be serving up an abundance of delicious eats, along with on-site food outlets Sugar Creek Smokehouse and Posadas Cantina.

Open to all ages, tickets are available now via OzTix and include a complimentary beer or soft drink.
