Food waste startup Good & Fugly launches fresh produce deliveries for Gold Coasters

Good & Fugly has made its eagerly awaited debut on the Gold Coast. All in a bid to make use of the 25% of Australian produce that doesn't leave the farm. Here's how you can order seasonal fruit and vegetable boxes straight to your door!

It's no secret that the way we consume food has a lasting effect on the planet. So whether you're a sustainable foodie, feeling the supermarket crunch, or simply want to support a home-grown startup. Good & Fugly is your ticket in.

This fresh produce delivery service serves up quirky yet tasty seasonal fruit and veg boxes straight to your door.

The startup first launched in Sydney in 2020 to help fight Australia's food waste pandemic. Since then, they've delivered over 620,000 kg of quirky fruit and veg. These deliveries help save perfectly imperfect produce deemed cosmetically unsuitable for supermarkets from going to waste.

With quirk comes savings, too. With boxes and delivery coming in at roughly 20% less than supermarkets. Good & Fugly offers an easy way to combat the rising cost of living while doing good for the planet.

Here are the subscription options

  • Small fruit and veg box $35
  • Large fruit and veg box $54
  • Small veg box $35
  • Small fruit box $35
  • Large fruit box $54

Every box is filled with fresh, seasonal produce direct from farmers. Then, delivered directly to your door for a small delivery fee.

Each delivery includes tasty recipe cards to inspire home chefs to use the produce in new and exciting ways.

Good & Fugly founder Richard Tourino is excited to be launching on the Gold Coast.

The price of fruit and veg is skyrocketing, and still, major supermarkets are rejecting produce based on looks alone. We were overwhelmed by our recent launch in Brisbane and know that there is a huge appetite on the Gold Coast for healthy, sustainable, and affordable produce solutions.

As part of the launch, Good & Fugly is also looking to connect with local Queensland farmers who have cosmetically-challenged produce or surplus stock they need cleared. Good & Fugly works directly with farmers to give them a fair price for produce that would otherwise be thrown away. Interested farmers are invited to contact Good & Fugly’s Farmer’s Hotline on 13-000-FUGLY to join the fight against food waste.

Tourino said, “The cosmetic standards of supermarkets mean an astounding amount of great food never reaches our plates. In fact, 30% of all the world's farmland is used to produce wasted food. We’re on a mission to make saving the planet affordable, convenient, and delicious.”

Consumers can eat fugly and do good for as little as $35.
