Sun down, fun’s up at the Twilight Markets this month

The fun's up on Nerang street for the upcoming Twilight Markets.

CBD Sundown Markets are back at Nerang Street, Southport on Friday 26 May from 5pm with an array of free entertainment for all.

Expect food truck heaven for carnivores, omnivores, and herbivores alike with the Queensland vegan markets leading the way and, for some Friday night fun for the adults, a licenced area with DJ Jeremy Dotch.

Save dollars scouring the desert digs vintage markets for all the thrifty finds, explore the architectural artwork from Gold Coast-grown Clayton Blake and enjoy live music from local artists Eleea Navarro, Crème Fraiche and Buttered starting at 5pm. It's pooch-friendly, too!

Winners of the Breakout Artist award at the Gold Coast Music Awards for 2022, Buttered, will be sliding onto the stage with their groovy mix of Soul, R&B, and Pop genres.

Akin to Silk Sonic, Matt Corby and Allen Stone (as dubbed by Triple J), their track 'Perfect’ can be described as vintage pop with a likeness of Michael Sambello’s 'Maniac'.

With over a million streams on Spotify, these fun blonde boys have a lot of charisma to share, and a new album on the horizon. Recently seen at Bluesfest 2023 in Byron Bay, band members Scott and Jackson will be taking to the stage at 7pm to funk up the night.

Art Installation, ‘The Hive,’ from Burn Frank Studios will be one of the major features, as the entrance archway sculpture draws inspiration from a beehive.

The team at Burn Frank Studio “combines the fields of architecture, sculptural art, and event production to create extraordinary concepts provoking thought, curiosity, and imagination.”

Gold Coast’s own Clayton Blake is the genius behind ‘The Hive’ and many more familiar sculptures from around the Gold Coast and the world. His works have been displayed in the USA’s Burning Man, Italy’s Arte Laguna and our own Swell Sculpture Festival.

Burn Frank Studio says it “aims to blur the line between thinking and doing, when experiencing art through the realm of interaction. In essence, it is about sparking a connection between the observer and their imagination through a playful experience. Our goal is to unite art and audience via a collaborative and innovative approach. We are proud to deliver to our client’s creative solutions and unique concepts that never fail to provoke, excite, and stimulate.”

With such great food, World Class entertainment and the Southport G link station close by this will be a fun night for friends, family, and pets to put on your calendar for Friday, 26 May. More deets here.
