Tourist in my town: Halcyon House Escape

Even as you pull up in the car park at Halcyon House, the chic Mediterranean vibes ooze across the lawn. Walking through the spa entrance you are greeted by the friendly staff who hand you a robe and slippers and show you upstairs to begin your experience.

They offer a range of treatments and packages to suit every type of spa-goer, including The Halcyon Escape which is their lunch and spa package, and trust me, it is every bit as good as you have heard.

The spa staff are knowledgeable and aim to make your treatment as personalised as possible to suit your goal for the day, whether that be relaxation with a soothing massage or easing tension with a firmer touch. The products they use are from Australian skincare brand Sodashi, and they also offer a range of aromatherapy oils throughout your massage and facial to aid your detox or relaxation.

The treatment rooms themselves are luxurious with a cosy feel. After your treatment, you can enjoy flavoured water or herbal tea in the lounge or on the deck. Finish up the spa portion of The Halcyon Escape with a steam. The steam room at Halcyon House is decked out with glossy blue tiles from floor to domed ceiling, reminiscent of an Ottoman hammam. Enjoy an invigoratingly cold shower inside the spa’s steam room and sit for a while soaking up the heat before getting ready for lunch.

Paper Daisy is the resort's One-Hatted restaurant, well known for its Aussie Executive Chef Jason Barratt and his fabulous menu. Set next to the pool with ocean views, you could be forgiven for thinking you were having lunch on a Greek Island rather than the coastal NSW suburb of Cabarita. The lunch is two courses with a choice of entree and main or main and dessert. The fully stocked bar offers a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and cocktails to accompany your meal.

Wrap up your relaxing day with a walk along the beach or up to Cabarita Headland to watch the surf rolling in.
