Blank Street Press issue #102

As we rock into one of the busiest times on Gold Coast’s cultural calendar, we’re once again blown away by the diverse range of local talent that crosses our desks every day. The Gold Coast Music Awards have just announced their finalists; an absolutely massive task by the judges as it meant whittling down a whopping 937 nominations. That’s a LOT of reading and listening. But what an awesome reflection it is on the huge growth experienced by Gold Coast’s music industry over the last eight years.

SWELL Sculpture Festival turns a mature 21 this year, and BLEACH* Festival is reversing the numbers at 12 years of age, and delivering its biggest program ever. These arts scene stalwarts have contributed so much towards the growth of Gold Coast’s cultural landscape that it really cannot be overstated. We are so humbled to have had years of opportunity to meet and report on the weird, wild and wonderful world of Gold Coast’s passionate and innovative artists, creators, and movers and shakers.

With our 100th edition recently passed and our ten years coming up in December, it’s been a real time for reflection and gratitude for our whole team, so we wanted to say an especial thank you to our amazing readers, some estimated 2 million of whom have enjoyed our 7,500+ stories published over 102 print editions and 760,000 copies!
