7 local musicians you don't want to miss at this year's SPRINGTIME

Surfers Paradise's free three-day music, art and skate festival kicks off on our beloved Gold Coast Show Day public holiday Friday 1 September. Here are seven local artists you'll want to shimmy to the front for.

The grass is greener at this year's second annual SPRINGTIME. Featuring a rolling list of talented artists plucked right from our backyard, you're spoilt for choice with who to groove too.

Because beyond live art murals, a retro arcade game-inspired interactive art installation and Vans' pop-up skate plaza lays a whole meadow of homegrown royalty.

With a star-studded lineup of over 30 artists across two stages, SPRINGTIME features a sweeping selection of Gold Coast talent across a range of genres.

Whether you head along to the Dr. Martens Street Stage or the Beach Stage for a salty kiss of sea breeze, make sure to have a field day with these local artists.

India Dupriez

At just 20, this local pop singer has garnered a loyal following seriously obsessed with her versatile vibey sound.

Effortlessly blending melodic runs with catchy beats, India's SPRINGTIME performance follows a long string of collaborations with musical royalty. Including recording with Justin Bieber's and P!nk's producers, Chizzy Stephens and Kyle Moorman in California. As well as Grammy-nominated producer Boom Dice.

It's wild to think that India only released her debut single, 'Know Me', in 2019. We see this songbird shooting to stardom at record speed.

So be sure to catch her Friday at the intimate Friends of SPRINGTIME venue, Steampunk, from 2 - 5pm. Who knows, the next time might be in a stadium.

daste.

Bill Durry

If 'Dance' isn't Bill Durry's middle name, then surely 'Cheeky House Rascal' is.

This homegrown DJ fell in love with his craft at the ripe age of 14 while playing DJ Hero. Today, Durry brings explosive energy to every hype-filled show, laced with his signature good times attitude and even more dynamic beats.

A prominent member of the House music scene, Bill Durry's SPRINGTIME feature follows his recent Splendour in The Grass sets.

Chutney

Ditch the savoury marmalade in favour of your new choice of Chutney.

This electrifying four-piece who hail from the Gold Coast shake the ground with their own brand of indie-rock.

Chutney have magnetised attention for their catchy bass lines, goose bumpifying build-ups and smooth lyricism. Which has landed them support from Rage, MTV and Triple M. As well as features on Spotify, triple j and award nominations in the 2022 and 2023 Gold Coast Music Awards.

Girl and Girl

Speaking of Tones and I, here's the band who competed against her at a local band competition, and won. So as you can guess, they're kind of a big deal.

Nominated for six 2023 Gold Coast music awards, Girl and Girl have made waves with their indie-rock tracks taking them all the way to Europe.

A four-piece with a unique kinship, Girl and Girl members include Kai James, his aunty Liss on drums, longtime friend Jayden Williams. Aunty Liss brings nearly four decades of drumming chops to the tracks, and it shows.

Having played around Australia, the UK and beyond, Girl and Girl recently completed their Australian tour and signed with US label, Subpop Records. The crew humbly remember their roots.

Bella Amor

If pop-punk and indie-pop had a baby, its rightful name would be Bella Amor.

A powerful Gen Z voice, at just 20 years old Bella's tracks have already been featured on playlists by Spotify and this year she shares the SPRINGTIME lineup with one of her inspirational artists, Matt Corby.

Amor's bedroom tracks launched into the world in 2022 with pro-sound to boot. 2023 releases like 'does it get boring' bring a new level of lyricism beyond her years. While Amor's collaborative track with renowned artist, BLESSED introduces a new sound for the artist.
