Kirsty Abrahams is making a welcome return to recording with poignant single ‘Running’.
Swept up amidst the day-to-day tasks of working the music industry, Gold Coast indie pop artist Kirsty Abrahams set aside her desire to record and release her own music for the past six years. During this time she has assisted many local and emerging artists throughout South East Queensland in different aspects of their careers.
“In 2017 I decided that I wanted to reevaluate where I wanted to take my music career,” Kirsty says.
“I took a break, to focus on my mental health and redirect my career towards the business side of the music industry. This was the best thing I could have done.”
In the wildness of COVID Kirsty emerged with a Masters Degree of International Music Business.
“I genuinely did not think I would be working in the music industry post-Covid. It has been such an honour to join the Gold Coast Music Network and Awards team. I believe I have the best job in the world working with the insane amount of talent that is coming out of the Gold Coast.”
Throughout her studies and assisting other artists in their career development Kirsty has continued to write. With so many songs sent to the backburner Kirsty has decided to ‘just get them out’.
“I have songs that were recorded over six years ago that I just never finished or released. They have been haunting me and, like any true artist, I just didn’t have the confidence to release them.”
Now with new music in the works and a completely different sound Kirsty has decided to release a song that has been waiting in the wings for seven years, ‘Running’. With crystal clear production and stunning vocal harmonies, ‘Running’ has all the hallmarks of a commercial banger, and tbh we’ve had it on repeat for a while.
Kirsty describes ‘Running’:
“It’s a word of encouragement to keep pressing on towards what you personally believe is true and good for your soul, leaving the past and all its anxieties behind.
“It is a heartfelt message of determination and motivation to set your gaze to the bright future ahead.
“I wrote this song inspired by someone barely in my world back in 2015. Little did I know I would be singing it over myself come 2020 and all its chaos.”
