Cresting the wave of the new Gold Coast vibe-rock culture, indie powerhouse Peach Fur have delved into the urban schism through their new collaboration featuring the lyrical stylings of vibe-sculpting sensation Saint Lane.
"Lane has jumped on tours and played some shows with us," explains Peach Fur frontman Denny Hilder about the collab on new track ‘Bloom’.
"We've been wanting to record with him for a while to diversify our genres, spreading styles. We love all music and this collaboration just came about."
Despite the smooth and easy-going ambience of the track, it was revealed that things didn't initially kick-off quite so effortlessly in the studio.
"We got a bit stuck in the writing process,” says Denny.
“Overthinking it until Benny (Guitarist) wrote this amazing progression. Then within 10 minutes the song was written with Lane. Then within a week we got the hooks down and let it flow. So much fun.
"We started out stuck, then it became just the easiest song writing experience."
With a collaborative song writing style and inspiration from influences such as King Krule, Sticky Fingers and Frusciante-era Red Hot Chilli Peppers, there is a distinctly classic tone to 'Bloom' which may be attributed in part to a change in studio routine.
Where usually Peach Fur would "live track" - where the band play and record together at the same time, on ‘Bloom’ the band multi-tracked for the first time - laying down recordings one instrument at a time.
"Live is a different world to the studio. The studio creates a whole different experience where we get to delve into all new and different tones," describes Denny.
New release 'Bloom' brings with it a surge of intrigue and speculation into the already exciting catalogue of fresh sounds from the band following their hits 'Yummy' and 'Sun Rays'.
"’Bloom’ is about the feeling of freedom after going separate ways in a relationship and having that new sense of self-discovery,” Denny explains.
Peach Fur fans have plenty more to look forward to with 'Bloom' being the debut single of the band's first LP 'Earth Radio' scheduled for release next year.
Denny hints towards the concept of the album as, "The experience of an alien being presented with all the music that humans make. Different lyrics, melodies and meanings that convey peace to shine through all the chaos of the world we've been experiencing and push towards a more harmonious future."
Fans may even look forward to an additional single release “early in the new year," Denny teases.
Recent winners of the Triple J Spilt Milk Competition 2022 and Live Act of the Year for the Gold Coast Music Awards 2021, Peach Fur are excited to continue the momentum of their success.
