Not for the faint hearted, this EP is guaranteed to get you moving.

Chloe Behrens’s Impressive Debut

After five years of relentless live shows, local artist Chloe Behrens has finally given us the first taste of her recorded material. ‘Twenty-Two’ is a powerful modern folk track that draws influence from artists like Phoebe Bridgers, transporting the listener into an emotive soundscape bursting with strings, synths, and luscious harmonies. Building to what Chloe describes as her "breaking point" the track ends with a sense of acceptance that feeling stuck is a matter of the heart, not a reflection of one's experiences. An impressive debut here from Chloe Behrens.

Georgia Flood’s Addictive Blend

Best known for her acting roles in Wentworth and ANZAC Girls, local creative Georgia Flood is introducing herself to us as a musician this month, with the addictive ethereal indie pop single ‘Blue Honey’. Listing influences as diverse as Fred Again and Lucinda Williams, Georgia combines her love of electronic, pop and country music to create a truly unique blend that seems to get better with every listen. With another big TV series appearance on the horizon and more new music to come, Georgia Flood is in for a mammoth back half of 2023.

Chloe Styler’s Effortless Stunner

Fresh off the back of performing at the world-renowned CMA fest in Nashville, rising star Chloe Styler has just released the stunning new single ‘Hometownless’. Built around a steady rhythm, the track is brought to life with effortless vocal delivery and unique melody choices to present Styler’s strongest release to date. Co-written with Jason Resch from Darlinghurst, the track likens a person to a hometown in a relationship, capturing the feeling of going through a breakup and realising you're left searching for a new place to call home. Released alongside another beautifully shot video ‘Hometownless’ is the first taste of a forthcoming EP ‘Side B’

Atlamer's Muse Deliver The Unexpected

Always managing to deliver something unexpected, Atlamer's Muse have tweaked their style yet again with the piano driven ballad ‘Forest Of Dreams’. Written about love lost, the track is brought to life by vocalist Naia Neith’s passionate delivery, while producer James Arrowsmith adds sparse instrumentation to complete the emotive picture. ‘Forest Of Dreams’ is another creative extension from this truly unique Gold Coast duo.

Jaz Sebastian’s Dreamy Album Teaser

Jaz Sebastian has given us the first taste of his forthcoming debut album this month, with the hypnotic groover ‘Headache’. Set behind a drifting rhythm section and a rich ambient synth, the track’s dreamy chorus is reminiscent of Red Hot Chili Peppers while the verse takes more of a modern pop-rock approach. Released alongside a lyric video with more content to follow, we’re excited to see what Jaz has in store for us for the back half of 2023.

PEPTALK’s Indie Pop Earworm

After a stellar start to the year including festival appearances and some impressive collaborations, PEPTALK have gifted us with their first standalone single of 2023 ‘Close Friend’. Written as a reflection on the emotions felt growing up in a religious community as a queer person, the track transitions seamlessly between heavy and sparse sections, perfectly capturing the nature of indecision. Flexing their skills in the studio, the beautifully put together indie pop earworm was produced by Lara and Phoebe from the trio under their moniker Middleman. World class stuff here from PEPTALK.

Jim Ottaway’s Blissful Ambience

Gold Coast's favourite ambient electronic artist Jim Ottaway is stamping his blissful mark on 2023 with the immersive long player ‘Infinite Universes’. Released as the next natural progression in his series of space ambient/electronic albums that begun back in 2016, this latest offering focuses on the beauty, wonder and complexities of the universe. Highlight moments included the intergalactic pace of ‘Ancient Starlight’, the uplifting progression on ‘Voices Of Universal Infinity’ and the sporadic brilliance of ‘Light From Perfect Darkness’.

Jake Murdoch’s Burst Of Positivity

Jake Murdoch is continuing his creative roll with a second single release in the past three months. ‘Every 1 Loves U’ was written as a feel-good song about reassuring people of their self-worth and to have more confidence in themselves. Said to be inspired by J-pop, the track sees Jake favouring the keyboard (rather than the guitar), putting more of an emphasis on contemporary songwriting. ‘Every 1 Loves U’ is a nice burst of positive energy that is sure to put a smile on your face. Set for release on 20 August.

Bella Amor Continues Her Roll

Bella Amor hasn’t put a foot wrong since she catapulted onto the scene in 2022, and her new offering ‘does it get boring’ sees her continue the magic roll. Taking the foot off the pedal slightly from her previous releases, the track has moments of introspection while still offering the edgy pop sounds that we’ve come to expect. You can catch Bella performing on the big stage at Bleach and SPRINGTIME through August and September.

Clovo’s Immersive Package

One-of-a-kind Gold Coast creative Clovo has delivered a knock-out punch with her powerful third single (in as many years) ‘Cybergames’. Blending deep industrial electronica with dark pop sensibilities the track is balanced into the mainstream with the help of Clovo’s bright vocal that really comes to life in the chorus. Written about becoming more than a clone of other people's opinions and perceptions, ‘Cybergames’ is an impressive example of an artist connecting lyrical content and music to present a truly immersive package.

Saint Barae’s Explosion On the Senses

Self-professed faithful narrator to the queer experience, Saint Barae has hit us with another colourful, hyper-pop explosion on the senses, ‘Blissing You’. Bright synths and pocket drums provide the perfect backdrop for the vocal-heavy track written about the joy that comes from giving someone pleasure in a relationship. Drawing inspiration from acts like The 1975, Conan Gray and Cub Sport, Saint Barae continues to prove himself as a masterful sonic shapeshifter that toes the line between melancholy and euphoria.

Lily Grace Bets On Love

Lily Grace is continuing her momentum as one of the Gold Coasts brightest young artists with the release of the slick, country anthem ‘Bet On Us’. First penned on a songwriting retreat in Nashville (where Lily is temporarily based) the track is about believing in a relationship when everybody is betting against it. Following a familiar pop formular the snappy 2:40 track sets itself apart with the help of Lily’s authentic vocal delivery and infectious energy that is also captured beautifully in the accompanying video. Another step in the right direction for Lily Grace.

Tijuana Cartel’s Melodic House Slow Burner

Local creative juggernauts Tijuana Cartel continue to push their musical boundaries with ‘Believe In Nothing’, a moving, melodic house slow-burner reflecting on the pain and heartache of disappointing a loved one. Driven by pulsating synths and a steady percussive rhythm, the track features a hypnotic, yet commanding vocal reminiscent of Mark Coyne from the Flaming Lips. Released alongside an excellent video clip, ‘Believe In Nothing’ is the second single from the bands forthcoming record ‘Alectura’.

The Colliflowers Take You Fishing

Northen Rivers party starters The Colliflowers have gifted us with their first release of 2023 this month, ‘Feel’. Traversing the tried and tested path between indie rock and roots reggae the sundrenched track is bursting with hooks, from groove heavy rhythm section to the luscious vocal melodies. Accompanied by a classic videoclip that follows the band on a day out fishing in their tinnys, ‘Feel’ was released alongside the news of a seven-date tour including several local shows. Check the band's socials for all the dates.

Kirsty Abrahams runs back to us

Talented Gold Coast singer-songwriter Kirsty Abrahams has made a heartily welcome return to writing and recording following a lengthy hiatus. She has returned to us rested and inspired, and delivered her strongest single to date, ‘Running’. The first track in what is set to be an exciting upcoming project, ‘Running’ is a poignant, slicky-produced slice of nostalgic indie pop with a slight twang of country to it. Solid songwriting here, and we’re super excited about what’s next. Out 17 August.

DAMIEN’s darkwave dream

Queer darkwave artist DAMIEN has dropped a bomb on us with his latest album, ‘Candidate For The Abyss’. Written in response to hate mail he received, this seven-track album is full of black pearls, biting lyrics, rocking synths and layered industrial electro-rick vibes that come with a serious gut punch. Not an album to be taken lightly, ‘Candidate For The Abyss’ is a dark beauty indeed.
