Live gallery + review: KISS Gold Coast | Cbus Super Stadium | September 2022

KISS go out with a bang in a night of fanfare and rock and roll on the Gold Coast.

Fans were initiated into the show with a pyrotechnics display that is usually reserved for the end of a show, with flames blasting out of the stage and a screech by Paul Stanley: “Are you ready for a show Gold Coast?!” The roar of the crowd was all the answer they needed to dive right into a colourful, energetic show that had all the passion and drama of a final curtain call.

During the show a nod was given to the band's five-decade presence in the rock scene with a photo montage played in the back screen, reminding the audience of the band's longevity and musical influence.

The showmanship of these 70-year-old rockers is undeniable. The theatrics of Gene Simmons took centre stage as he was illuminated by a green light, becoming possessed before our very eyes - head twitching, eyes rolling back into his head, tongue protruding, blood spewing out of his mouth  In another song, Stanley mounted a zipline and whooshed across the stadium to another platform from which perch he played two songs, allowing another section of the audience front row seats. Floating platforms provided each of the rockers with a spotlight for each of their solos.

The end of the show was celebrated, fittingly, with 'Rock and Roll All Nite' accompanied with flames, fireworks, oversized balloons and an avalanche of confetti as the audience was lifted to its feet. A grand showing for an epic band. Goodnight, KISS.
