Busby Marou announce 'Blood Red' national tour with Jem Cassar-Daley and Steph Strings

With Busby Marou's fifth studio album 'Blood Red' set for release on 21 July, the boys have announced a stacked national album tour with 15 dates across the country.

The tour includes Gladstone, Bundaberg, Yamba, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane, Coffs Harbour, Thirroul, Sydney, Newcastle, Rockhampton, Mackay, Cairns, Townsville and - of course - the Gold Coast!

Joining Busby Marou for the shows are rising stars, Brisbane based singer-songwriter Jem Cassar-Daley (for all dates except Sydney and Newcastle), and Melbourne guitar prodigy and songstress Steph Strings (Sydney and Newcastle only).

Busby Marou's fifth album is gearing up to be their best release yet with singles 'Conversation', 'Crazy Like That', 'Where I Wanna Be' and 'Everything is Beautiful' being just a taste of the body of work to come. 'Blood Red' will be the boys' first full-length project since 2019's hugely successful 'The Great Divide'.

Tom Busby and Jeremy Marou refer to the sound of their fifth album as their “bread and butter."

“Tom and I, acoustic guitars with vocal harmonies,” explains Marou. “But on 'Blood Red', there’s an extra ingredient: ambition,” adds Busby

He’s not talking about building on the Rockhampton / Gold Coast duo’s already staggering success: three Top 5 albums (including 2017’s 'Postcards from the Shell House', which debuted at Number 1 on the ARIA Charts); the 2020 Release of the Year trophy at the Gold Coast Music Awards; four APRA Awards; and a swag of APRA and ARIA nominations. Instead, he’s referring to creative ambition, with the pair determined to embrace both the experience they’ve gained over their career and the maturity they’ve found in their personal lives to create an album that reflects their true musical selves.

“It sums up a 15-year music career,” says Marou. “We’ve gone from being green and not quite ready to knowing what we want we want and co-producing this album.”

“The main reason we’re still here is because we’ve always stuck to our songwriting method, which is just a couple of blokes with two guitars and melodies telling stories,” adds Busby. “We haven’t overthought it. This time in particular, we backed ourselves."

Busby Marou have gained the reputation as one of Australia’s hardest working live bands best known for their distinctly Australian storytelling and gifted musicianship. On stage, a key element is the intertwining of vocal interplay of two lifelong mates.

2023 is gearing up to be a huge year for the duo.

“We can't wait to give the world Blood Red and share these songs with you live.”

Catch Busby Marou when they hit Miami Marketta on 27 August for their 'Blood Red' tour. Can't make that one? Never fear. The guys are playing Brisbane and Yamba also. Tix and full tour dates over at busbymarou.com.
