Big Bad Bazza's Benefit Bash to raise funds for local music photographer in palliative care

Australian music icons unite for a one night only show at Miami Marketta to raise funds for local music photographer and music industry marvel, Barry 'Bazza' O'Callaghan.

From Live Aid and the Concert for Bangladesh. To our bushfire and flood disaster appeals. It’s the Aussie music industry that is there to help raise money for those in need. Now, a string of musicians come together to help a mate.

Local legend Barry O'Callaghan is a founding member of the GoSet Gold Coast Club who has spent the last 20 years caring seven days a week for live-in overseas students. Barry's best known for his archival music photography and generosity.

O'Callaghan is currently in palliative care after being diagnosed with inoperable liver, lung and pelvic cancers in April. Big Bad Bazza's Benefit Bash aims to raise financial support for Barry's teacher's aid wife, Noriko and 19-year-old son, Jack, who is currently studying at The University of Queensland.

"I’m delighted to be part of this wonderful group of entertainers to help Barry and his family," says Russell Morris off the back of his recent sell out Sydney Opera House and Melbourne Arts Centre symphony concerts.

“Barry has always been there to help others over many years. Now it’s our turn”.

Morris is joined by multi-award winning, ARIA Hall of Famer Brian Cadd who adds "please join us for what will be a great show for a great cause. We have a most impressive line-up of Australian talent that has come together to help one of our own. And now we need your help to make it happen".

Cadd's correct, with the star-studded lineup including Aussie rocker and actor Brian Mannix and Australian rock and roll pioneer, Digger Revell. As well as acclaimed singer-songwriter Marcie Jones, Tony Worsley and Peter Cupples to date.

The event kicks off at 5pm on Thursday 17 August at Miami Marketta's Studio 56, where staging, lighting, sound, front of house and staff have kindly been provided at no charge.
