Tourist in my Town: Crystal Creek Rainforest Retreat

Just forty minutes from the sun, sea, and sand that the Gold Coast is world-famous for, sits a peaceful retreat in a world of its own. Set in the rainforest-covered hills and valleys of the hinterland, Crystal Creek Rainforest Retreat offers the perfect romantic weekend away.

Summer or winter, the luxury lodges at Crystal Creek Rainforest Retreat are a great place to relax, unwind and unplug from your daily life. Offering floor-to-ceiling rainforest views throughout the living area, bedroom and even the bathroom. Each luxury lodge has a shady deck equipped with a barbecue and dining area (some also have a private plunge pool), as well as a cosy sofa to snuggle up and watch a movie on, and a spacious bedroom with a log fire for winter. The bathroom comes with a huge oversized spa so you can have a soak while taking in the rainforest views. The decor fits in with the natural surroundings boasting high ceilings and exposed wooden beams. There is a modern well-equipped kitchen in each lodge to whip up tasty dishes, but if you don’t fancy cooking during your stay you can also arrange for ready-made meals and picnics to be brought to your lodge. Couples massages are also available in the privacy of your luxury accommodation and should be booked in advance.

While at Crystal Creek Rainforest Retreat there are plenty of activities to keep you occupied should you manage to tear yourself away from your lodge, including free bike hire, a games room with pool and table tennis, an orchard to pick your own fruit, and a swimming hole with hammocks to relax in. If you like bushwalking you will enjoy exploring the eight kilometres of walking tracks on the property, the most popular being the Lookout Hike which takes you 250 metres up to a viewing area and takes about 90 minutes to walk the four-kilometre track. Make sure to venture down to the swimming hole after dark and check out the resident glow worms on the rocky banks of the creek.
