Get your groove on with this jazzy new music series

Hold onto your fedoras, Gold Coast, because the coolest music series ever is about to groove into your lives.

Launching at the Panezski Distillery, Molendinar on 26 October, Groovenote Presents is a bumper season of live, original music, thanks to the in-demand Pete Neville Jazz Experience.

Reminiscent of the cool jazz bands of the early 1960s, The Pete Neville Jazz Experience brings together some of the most experienced players from South East Queensland and Northern NSW.

In 2019, they graced Dust Temple in Currumbin with their first live gig as an ensemble, and have built a solid following in South East Queensland since then.

With original compositions and clever arrangements influenced by the iconic tunes of Wayne Shorter, Art Blakey, Dave Brubek, Miles Davis, Chet Baker and many others, The Pete Neville Jazz Experience is one cool quintet.

The current version of the band brings together a fine array of jazz improvisers from the Gold Coast area: Mal Wood (trumpet), Dave Kemp (vibraphone), Adam Thomas (Saxophone), Nicki Parrott (Bass) and, of course, Pete Neville (drums).

Pete Moved up to Tamborine Mountain from Sydney six years ago and has been making waves in the local music scene ever since. Mal Wood and Adam Thomas have performed alongside Australian music royalty. Dave Kemp is a local vibraphone virtuoso, and Nicki Parrot is vocalist and bass player who has spent the 30 years playing with the elite of the New York jazz scene.

This launch party is going to be a smokin' gig not-to-be-missed.

Moving forward, Groovenote Presents will be held on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month, and are an all-ages shows. Upcoming artists include The Baartz/Parrott Project, The Root Note, plus Shannon Marshall and the Souls Almighty.

The Pete Neville Jazz Experience / Groovenote Presents launches at the Panezski Distillery, Molendinar on Thursday 26 October from 6pm. Hit up the website for more details and to purchase tickets.
