A remarkable drama and award-winning, one-woman show written for renowned Australian actress Noni Hazlehurst is coming to HOTA, Home of the Arts 27 to 29 February.
Noni Hazlehurst – one of Australia’s favourite film, television and theatre stars – shines on the stage in Mother, delivering, according to the Sydney Morning Herald, "the performance of a lifetime".
Directed and produced by Matt Scholten and written with Daniel Keene’s characteristic lyricism and black humour, Mother tells the story of Christie, a homeless woman in a world detached, unforgiving and ultimately destructive.
Wrought with tenderness, violence and loneliness in equal measure, this production won the 2015 Drama Victoria Award for Best Production, was nominated for a Helpmann Award for Best Regional Touring Production and was also a finalist in the 2016 Australian Performing Arts Centre Association’s (APACA) Drover Awards for Tour of the Year.
Having received rave reviews, winning the 2018 Matilda Award for Best Female Actor in a Leading Role and nominated for a Helpmann Award for her performance, Noni disappears into her role and delivers a performance that is harrowing, heartbreaking and unforgettable theatre.
HOTA will also host a special sold out High Tea with Noni Hazlehurst event following the first show on 27 February, where guests can enjoy a live Q&A interview with the renowned Australian actress while enjoying sparkling wine and indulging in delicious treats.
Mother will take place in the HOTA Theatre from 27 to 29 February.
